August 31

The doctor that is going to do the baclofen injection (spinal), called and talked to us today. They plan to start it between 7 and 9 a.m. on Wednesday. He tells me that the baclofen injection is 100 times more powerful then the stuff Jeremy is getting through his feeding tube. It works on 95% of the patients. They will monitor him for about 6 hours after the procedure. If it doesn't work the first time, they will try a second time.

Yesterday, Jeremy had a visit from very close family friends. They hadn't seen Jeremy in a couple of weeks due to illness (theirs not Jeremy's). Jeremy had such a strong response to seeing Bill it was amazing. He reached up and tried to grab Bill's shirt sleeve, and then he reached up and tried to grab his ear. It was very cool, first of all to see him move his arm that high, and second of all to see him respond soooo strongly to someone again. The last time he responded so strongly was to (brother) Stephen over 2 months ago. It felt like he was going to sit up to come closer to him.

Jeremy had a new nurse tonight for about 4 hours. She must have made a connection with Jeremy in some way. He kept watching her while she assessed him. At one point she came in, and he was eating. She apologized for interrupting dinner, looked at Jeremy and said in delight. "He's smiling at me." It wasn't Jeremy's old, big, smile but it's a start, and I'm sure we will see more. Baby steps - Baby steps. One day at a time!

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We could not do this without you!
